Acceptable Use Policy

Section 1: Overview and Scope

1.1. Purpose This Acceptable Use Policy outlines the definitive rules, regulations, and acceptable behaviors for utilizing the services, applications, and network infrastructure provided by [Your Name / Entity Name] (collectively, the "Services"). The Services include but are not limited to this website, hosted applications such as Nextcloud and Jellyfin, custom automation endpoints, and any related network infrastructure.

1.2. Application of Policy This policy applies to all users, visitors, and automated agents accessing the Services. By accessing or utilizing any part of the Services, you agree to be bound by the terms outlined in this Acceptable Use Policy. If you do not agree to these terms, you must immediately disconnect from and cease all use of the Services.

1.3. Service Modification and Termination Access to the Services is provided as a privilege, not a right. We reserve the right to restrict, suspend, or terminate access to any user or IP address at our sole discretion, without prior notice, for any violation of this Acceptable Use Policy or for any behavior deemed harmful to our infrastructure.

Section 2: General Restrictions

When utilizing the Services, you agree to engage in responsible and ethical behavior. You are strictly prohibited from using the Services to engage in any of the following activities:

2.1. Illegal and Unauthorized Activities

Violating any applicable local, state, national, or international law or regulation.

Engaging in any activity that promotes, facilitates, or encourages illegal acts.

Accessing or attempting to access restricted areas of the network, databases, or administrative dashboards without explicit authorization.

2.2. Infrastructure and Network Abuse

Deploying denial-of-service (DoS) attacks, distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks, or any other action designed to overwhelm our server resources.

Probing, scanning, or testing the vulnerability of our Proxmox environments, containers, or network firewalls without prior written consent.

Bypassing or modifying any security controls or authentication mechanisms.

2.3. Malicious Code and Software

Uploading, transmitting, or distributing any viruses, worms, Trojan horses, ransomware, or other malicious code.

Utilizing the Services to host or distribute software designed to exploit vulnerabilities in other systems.

Executing unauthorized automated scripts, web scrapers, or bots against our web pages or API endpoints.

Section 3: Data and Content Rules

3.1. Prohibited Content You may not utilize our servers, storage arrays, or hosted applications to store, distribute, or link to any material that is illegal, defamatory, harassing, or threatening.

3.2. Intellectual Property and Media When accessing shared storage pools or media servers such as Jellyfin and Nextcloud, you agree not to upload, stream, or distribute copyrighted material without explicit legal authorization. The Site and its underlying Dell PowerEdge infrastructure act solely as a private environment, and we assume no liability for user-uploaded content.

3.3. Resource Allocation and Fair Use Storage limits and compute resources on our containerized environments, including Docker, are allocated at our sole discretion. You may not intentionally bypass quota limitations or utilize homelab resources for intensive background tasks, such as cryptocurrency mining or unauthorized distributed computing, without prior written approval.

Section 4: Specific Service Restrictions

4.1. Nextcloud and Cloud Storage Accounts provisioned for Nextcloud are intended for personal data management and collaboration. You are prohibited from utilizing these instances as a public file-hosting service or a high-bandwidth content delivery network (CDN) for external websites.

4.2. API Endpoints and Custom Automation Any access granted to custom AppSheet applications or automated n8n webhooks is strictly limited to their intended administrative or operational purpose. You may not reverse-engineer API endpoints, submit malformed payloads, or intentionally trigger infinite execution loops designed to consume bandwidth or disrupt system processes.

Section 5: Enforcement and Reporting

5.1. Monitoring and Investigation We reserve the right to monitor network traffic, server logs, and application usage to ensure compliance with this Acceptable Use Policy and to protect the integrity of our homelab environment.

5.2. Violation Consequences Violations of this policy may result in immediate suspension of your access, the deletion of your provisioned accounts, and the permanent blacklisting of your IP address. Depending on the severity of the infrastructure abuse, we may also report malicious activity to your Internet Service Provider or relevant law enforcement authorities.

5.3. Reporting Abuse If you become aware of any violation of this Acceptable Use Policy by another user, or discover a security vulnerability within our hosted applications, please report the activity immediately to our administrative contact.
